Diamond Grind Epoxy Flooring Applicators.

What is an epoxy?

There is a fair chance you may not have heard of epoxy flooring, so here is a quick 101 on epoxy resins.

An epoxy is a system that is made up of two main components – resins and hardeners. Both resins and hardeners are combined, creating a chemical reaction to form a rigid composite that is strong and resistant to degradation. A high quality epoxy will bond to the substrate or surface it is applied to extremely well. Once set, an epoxy floor will withstand high traffic use in any environment. It is especially chosen for industrial floor settings.

If you want a floor that is durable, withstands high levels of traffic as well as looks fantastic - then an epoxy floor could be your solution.

Epoxy applicators.

Epoxy applications are best left to the experts.

There are numerous epoxies on the market and requirements will vary when it comes to each project. Unfortunately the cheaper epoxies appear attractive to customers, but come at a price in the long run. If an epoxy is cheap or applied incorrectly the result will leave you with peeling or flaking, discoloration and a floor surface that is compromised. The proper application of epoxy resins takes years of experience in order to the get the best results.

How we do it.

The best way to apply epoxies.

There are a two ways of prepping a concrete floor for epoxy application. The first one is acid etching and the other is diamond grinding. Both approaches open the pores of the concrete, so the epoxy can adhere well. Acid etching does not involve machinery, however the level of penetration is minimal compared to diamond grinding. Acid etching will not even out an uneven floor or remove stains and glue residue. When using acid etching, if not prepped correctly the epoxy application can later peel, flake and lift due to the acid residue eating away at the epoxy from underneath. Due to this, we diamond grind all our floors as opposed to acid etching.

Why choose an epoxy flooring specialist?

We diamond grind all our floors before applying an epoxy because:

Diamond grinding is a superior way of profiling a floor. It gives full control of the etching process.

The operator can adjust variations in the concrete to give a more even surface.

Concrete is exposed without using chemicals, making it more environmentally friendly.

Acid over-etching is eliminated. Over-etching can result in epoxy failure after 12 months.

Removes glues and stains to give a clean smooth surface.

It provides a professional finish and is longer wearing and less expensive in the long run.
